What’s up everyone, Lady J here and today’s article is about why you should NOT create your own workout as a beginner.

If you had financial problems, legal issues, or a concern with your health, which do you think would give you a higher chance of success: coming up with your own plan; or following the advice of an authority in the field who has already developed a verified system that many people before you have followed with great results?

It’s not so different with weight training and workouts.

If you are a beginner, any workout  you make is probably going to suck. I’m just keepin’ it real.

Now, I’m not saying it is impossible to come up with a workout routine that works. But, it will not be as effective as a workout that’s been created by someone who has already invested the time learning to help people just like you.

Muscular imbalances due to improper training design is a real concern. This can lead to lots of pain and injury in the future. Not to mention, it can look a bit ridiculous (see pic below).

Neglecting body parts can not only lead to injury, but poor aesthetics!

Following a set workout routine (by someone who knows what they are talking about) is a shortcut to your goals. You don’t have to suffer the heartache of trial, error, and weeding out misinformation.

To put this in perspective, it took me a couple of years of researching and weight training during the majority of my free time before I finally understood how to properly design my own workout program.

If you want to devote hours upon hours to learning about anatomy, lifting and program design because you want to, that’s awesome!  But if you don’t have the time (like most people) and you needed to change yesterday, then don’t spin your wheels…follow a solid workout program and enjoy the benefits of not having to stress whether you’re wasting your time in the gym or not.

If you are a beginner, any workout  you make is probably going to suck. I’m just keepin’ it real.

So in short, if you value your time and want a great foundation to build on, get on a program.

Wondering what are some good programs to follow? I’ll be putting up a video on Monday, and a transcription on this site on Tuesday.
